Hi, I'm Beck, a member of the MIRI comms team. I'm not participating in PDKU, but want y'all to succeed and can be a resource, both in person and online.

I grew up in Alaska, my degree was in political science in Portland OR, and I live here in Berkeley. I've got campaign management experience but spent most of the last decade as a cook and then chef (I led the Constellation food program). I know little about short form video, but made a handful of short films growing up. I've been paying attention to AI and to rationalists for a while now and generally feel pretty comfortable with a broad swath of x-risk argumentation. Note for travelers: Berkeley in July can often be chill and foggy (and occasionally hot) so bring layers!
