hey everyone - i'm an artist-researcher running an art collective nonprofit in rural japan. we revitalize abandoned houses into art installations, residencies, community living rooms, research sites etc. i do a lot of tinkering / craft related things. these days i'm thinking about spiritual architecture / architectural animism, vibrant matter, and relationship to materiality.
i'm currently also a PI / leading the research team for a nation-wide participatory art experiment launching in japan later this year + producing a docuseries of civic life in rural japan. the overarching theme of my work is social practice, which is producing artifacts / media / experiments that involve people as the medium or material of the work.
up to other shenanigans like creating a grief shrine + contraption to melt ashes of loved ones into obsidian rock using the power of the sun w my friend max. i'm probably going to try to sneak into some labs at berkeley to do some material science explorations.
